Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
You post the job you would like done. We contact the contractors. The interested contractors will then contact you (possibly schedule a consult in person to get a better idea or take measurements), so you do not have to look up a bunch of contractors. They come to you. Then, they will submit a bid to ErieBids. We send you the bids to pick which one works best for you.
How far does ErieBids serve?
We proudly keep it local and serve the Erie County area.
Are all contractors licensed and insured?
Yes. We check and require all contractors be licensed through the Attorney General’s Office of Pennsylvania. We also require an up to date certificate of insurance.
Is there a common contract from the contractors or will they be submitting their own different contracts?
All contractors will fill out a general bid contract, but also be able to supply their own bid contract if they so desire.
What recourse do I have if the contractor does not meet the agreement?
Your recourse is strictly with the contractor and will depend, among other matters, on the terms of your contract with the contractor. ErieBids is not a party to the contract and cannot guarantee or ensure performance with its terms.
Are contractors going to submit bids after reading the post or will they come see the job first before submitting a bid?
Most contractors will request to see the job in person first depending on how descriptive the job posting is and what the job entails. There may be jobs that contractors have a set fee for and the posting is straight forward enough that they can give you a bid without seeing first. It is up to the contractor’s discretion.
Is there a time limit on receiving bids?
No. We do not want you to miss out on a bid within a couple minutes or hours because of a time limit. We will stop bids from coming in once you accept the bid you want. Most bids will come in within a few days.
